All-new Mercury Montego GT. New high-stability suspenion takes the grunts and groans out of GT handling.
You're looking at all new machinery.
No facelift. New. From the tires up.
It rides on a new high-stability sus
pension designed to give you quick, responsive handling with a sure, smooth ride.
Components: 4-link rear suspension with helical coil springs and double acting shocks. Main benefits: curves have less sway. Lane changes less swerve.
But you don’t get a stiff competitiony ride. You can track down two-lane blacktop without counting the bumps and cursing the pot holes.
What else is new? Standard engine: 302 V-8. Options up to a 429 4-V. The standard transmission in a Montego GT is a 3-speed manual. Plus two options: 3-speed automatic and a 4-speed manual with Hurst shifter® (shown).
Standard instrument cluster has everything but an altimeter. Includes tachometer and trip odometer, plus five canted pods - fuel, temperature, oil, ammeter, and chronometer.
Flight Bench seats with folding center armrest are standard. Hi-back buckets at no extra cost.
Other standard goodies: Dual hood scoops, side louvers, deluxe wheel covers, fastback roof, dual racing mirrors and whitewalls. Tires, radio, console, hub caps and trim rings (shown) are optional.
